How's Your Stool???

entirelyliquid.jpg

Hello to all!

Well, I thought I would tell you about your intestines today! ::smile:: When you eat, your food is first chewed and mixed with saliva that begins breaking down the food into useable nutrients. The food moves down to the stomach where it mixes with stomach acids (bile) and is broken down into a liquid form. It then moves down to the small intestine where the nutrients are removed (if you drink some water kefir before your meal, it puts the pro-biotics into your small intestine and makes it ready to receive the good food you are eating!) The good bacteria, of course, takes the nutrients, vitamins, minerals and fatty acids in through the small intestine walls to feed your body. Once the good stuff is removed the rest is waste, so it moves into the large intestine where the liquids are removed from the waste to create a stool to be eliminated at the end of the road. During this time the fiber you have eaten (25 - 30 gms per day is best) retains some fluids and keeps the stool somewhat soft. Not enough fiber makes a very loose or very hard stool. Look at the picture and see where your stool fits... the optimum stool is a 3 or 4. If your stool is too loose increase fluids and fiber. If your stool is too hard increase fluids and fiber. Ok, I know, I said to do the same for both... Fiber holds fluids as well as acts as a glue to hold the stool together. Fluids are necessary in either case to keep the fiber moist so it will work. If you are getting the right pro-biotics and your stool isn't right, the only other thing to do is add fiber and fluids.

Getting enough fiber is sometimes hard to do... here is a link to a list of high fiber foods to add to your diet http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art49482.asp. Remember to try to get 25-30 grams of fiber a day into your diet. A good rule of thumb is to eat 10 grams per meal... if this is too hard add a couple high fiber snacks between meals to keep the fiber coming. Enjoy the happy stools!

Swine Flu!

Shalom everyone!

As the world watches the spread of this new strain of deadly flu, I am reminded that the 'world' eats dead foods. Looking at the article that was posted earlier about the bird flu being shaken by Kimchi encourages me even in the face of this new flu.

We have the knowledge to stay healthy. We need to continue to spread the word to our family and friends. Cathy and I will travel and share all that we know (not much) and will encourage you to learn what you need to learn to stay healthy even in the face of this pandemic.

Another helpful recipe for avoiding this new plague is made with essential oils. It was used by thieves to avoid getting sick while robbing the dead bodies during the black plague. It has been tested by Weber State University for it's potency and was found to kill 99.96% airborne bacteria. The oils are highly antiviral, antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-infectious, and help protect the body from colds, flus, sore throats, and many other ailments involving lungs and sinuses. This is an easy recipe to create and one we can have on hand at home and in our purse.

The recipe:

Clove Oil (syzgium aromaticum) 200 drops or 1/2 ounce
Lemon Oil (citrus limon) 175 drops
Cinnamon Bark oil (cinnamoomum verum) 100 drops
Eucalyptus oil (eucalyptus radiata) 75 drops
Rosemary oil (rosimarinus officinalis) 50 drops

Mix this and store in a dark glass bottle. Put it in a spray bottle and mist the air in your home or car. You can also put it in a pan of water on the stove on low or in a vaporizor or defusor.

The Heavenly Father has provided the way to stay healthy even in the midst of our fallen world. Let us use every precaution He has offered and keep faith in His healing touch.
